What is Ayahuasca

13 April, 2023 | Inner Flight Retreat

What is Ayahuasca?

Ayahuasca is an ancient beverage of several indigenous cultures from the Amazon rainforest. It is obtained by cooking together two plants.

That is to say that the combination of the Ayahuasca vine with ‘Chacruna’ leaves, gives rise to this ancestral entheogenic remedy. For the tribes of the Amazon, this beverage is a blessing from the Great Spirit and Mother Earth. Therefore, within their cosmovision, Ayahuasca represents one of its spiritual, medicinal, and cultural pillars.

The traditional use of Ayahuasca allows the expansion of consciousness. As a result, we have access to deeper connections with the spiritual world and our inner world.

Therefore, guidance and high-vibration energies are received in our bodies, minds, hearts, and souls. Such as love, forgiveness, patience, freedom, compassion, strength, trust, and healing.

The Ayahuasca that is served at the Inner Flight Retreat, comes from the Peruvian Amazon jungle. Precisely from a town called ‘San Francisco’ in Pucallpa.

This place is an important community of the Shipibo-Conibo ethnic group. They have always distinguished themselves as traditional maestros, because of their deep knowledge about sacred plants.

Consequently, they use Ayahuasca for ceremonial and healing purposes. In other words, the heart of the Shipibo culture is based on its spiritual, physical, and cultural relationship with the jungle.

At the Inner Flight Retreat, Ayahuasca is served and guided by traditional maestros of the Shipibo-Conibo culture.

Ayahuasca and DMT

Ayahuasca helps to strengthen and activate the Pineal Gland. This gland is located exactly in the middle of our brain. Various ancient cultures know this gland as:  ‘The Third Eye’. The Pineal Gland is closely related to mystical experiences, dreams, and clairvoyance.

From the time we are born until the day we die, our Pineal Gland secretes a molecule called DMT. This molecule is produced in small amounts when a person dreams, meditates, prays deeply, practices yoga, etc. However, at the time of birth and death is when DMT is secreted with more intensity.

DMT exists, practically, in any living animal or plant. For example, oranges also contain DMT. However, there is a reason that we do not get to feel the DMT symptoms when we consume an orange. This reason is because of some digestive enzymes called ‘MAOs’. These enzymes destroy DMT before it reaches the bloodstream.

The Ayahuasca remedy also contains DMT, which comes from the leaves of the Chacruna. In addition, this beverage contains an inhibitor of these enzymes called ‘MAOI’. This inhibitor encapsulates the DMT contained in the dose.

Therefore, the DMT could be directed toward the bloodstream without being destroyed. As a result, Ayahuasca’s DMT is capable of placing the brain in amplified states of vibration. These states, allow people to reach higher levels of consciousness.

This sacred remedy gives people strength and power to overcome enslaving mindsets and disarm limiting structures. Ayahuasca also awakens our consciousness. This higher consciousness helps us to release repressed emotions and to cut addictions; whether to drugs, people, behaviors, or things.

It is important to know that Ayahuasca is not a drug. It does not create dependence or unbalanced hallucination states. Those who have connected with this sacred remedy refer to her as Grandmother Ayahuasca: a divine gift that comes from Pacha Mama.

The purpose of Ayahuasca is to make us feel life and existence from a higher perspective. Consequently, it makes us respectful of the responsibility of our power.
