At Inner Flight Retreat, we offer a nurturing space where you can embark on this transformative journey and reconnect with your higher self.
What Is Kambo?
Kambo is a powerful Amazonian detoxification ritual that uses the secretion of the giant monkey tree frog (Phyllomedusa bicolor). Applied to small points on your skin, this sacred medicine activates a deep physical, emotional, and spiritual cleansing, empowering you to release what no longer serves you.
At Inner Flight Retreat, we honor this ancient practice by blending traditional wisdom with modern safety to create a transformative, secure experience.

Scientific Evidence Supporting Kambo's Healing Power
Kambo, derived from the secretion of the Phyllomedusa bicolor frog, has been used traditionally by Amazonian tribes for its profound healing effects. Modern science is beginning to uncover the biochemical mechanisms that support these traditional claims. Below are some key findings that provide evidence for Kambo’s therapeutic potential:
1. Peptides in Kambo
Kambo secretion contains bioactive peptides and short chains of amino acids that influence various biological processes. These peptides interact with the human body to promote healing, detoxification, and immune enhancement.
Key Peptides and Their Benefits
- Dermorphin and Deltorphin: Potent opioid peptides that provide pain relief and mood enhancement by interacting with opioid receptors in the brain.
- Phyllokinin: A peptide that dilates blood vessels, improving circulation and potentially aiding in detoxification.
- Caerulein: Stimulates the digestive system, enhances gallbladder contraction, and aids in the elimination of toxins.
- Adenoregulin: Interacts with adenosine receptors, which are involved in anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective processes.
2. Immune System Stimulation
Kambo is believed to stimulate the immune system by activating the production of antimicrobial peptides (AMPs). These peptides help combat infections and maintain immune homeostasis.
Research Highlights
- Studies have shown that AMPs from frog secretions have antimicrobial properties, supporting the traditional use of Kambo for fighting infections.
- AMPs can help the body resist bacterial, fungal, and viral infections.
3. Detoxification and Organ Cleansing
The peptides in Kambo promote detoxification by stimulating organ function and cellular cleansing. For instance:
- Digestive Support: Caerulein enhances digestion and bile production, eliminating toxins from the liver and gallbladder.
- Kidney and Lymphatic System Activation: Kambo’s circulation and fluid regulation effects help flush out toxins through the kidneys and lymphatic system.
4. Emotional and Psychological Healing
Research suggests that the peptides in Kambo may influence neurotransmitter systems, promoting emotional release and mental clarity.
- Mood Regulation: Dermorphin and deltorphin may have antidepressant-like effects by enhancing the activity of serotonin and dopamine pathways.
- Trauma Release: Anecdotal evidence and preliminary studies suggest Kambo can facilitate the release of repressed emotions, helping participants achieve greater emotional balance.
5. Anti-inflammatory and Antioxidant Effects
The bioactive compounds in Kambo exhibit anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, contributing to overall cellular health and resilience.
- Anti-inflammatory Action: Peptides like phyllokinin reduce inflammation, potentially alleviating chronic pain or autoimmune disorders.
- Oxidative Stress Reduction: The antioxidant effects of Kambo may protect cells from damage caused by free radicals.
6.Evidence for Addiction Recovery
Emerging studies suggest Kambo’s neuroactive peptides can help individuals reset their reward systems, aiding in the treatment of addiction.
- Neurotransmitter Balance: Kambo may help reduce cravings and break negative behavioral patterns by modulating serotonin and dopamine pathways.
